Review: Park Regis City Centre sits perfectly between budget and luxury
As a family, you can’t go past a mid-range hotel. You know, the kind that’s a big step up from a budget hotel and a smaller step down from luxury. The Park Regis City Centre fits this box nicely, making it a top choice for a Sydney break for families. Oh… and did I mention it has a rooftop pool?
Location: On Park Street in Sydney City, within close walking distance of Town Hall Station and Hyde Park.
Style: It has an upscale, modern style without being too showy.
Perfect for: Business travellers, couples and families. Particularly those not wanting to go budget but also wanting quality without the luxury price tag.
First impressions of the Park Regis City Centre
The first impression as we walked into the lobby at the Park Regis City Centre was one of relief. This place was clearly not a dump, leaning towards the other end of the scale. Although the reception area is small, it’s uncluttered, clean and styled with cool old-fashioned trunk-style luggage bags. The staff were friendly and check-in was super quick.
First impressions of our actual room were one of pleasant surprise. Not only was it really clean, but the kid’s bedroom was separate from our bedroom by the bathroom and a small nook that housed a fridge and microwave. Hello privacy!
What sold me was (a) how clean the bathroom was and (b) a thoughtful snack box gift that really hit the spot after a long day of travelling. Well played Park Regis City Centre, well played.
The rooms at the Park Regis City Centre
We stayed in a Park Suite at the Park Regis City Centre which boasted two rooms separated by a small hallway that leads into the bathroom and a nook that houses the fridge and microwave. There is no door that separates the two rooms so while it’s private, it’s only semi-private. The main bedroom has it’s own TV and air-con with a King Sized bed.
The other room had two single beds, a second TV and a work desk. Photos on the Park Regis City Centre website indicated this room would have a sofa bed. But this wasn’t the case.
A large reflective panel on the wall gave the room a sense of space but at 34sqm, it’s not that small for a hotel smack in the middle of the city.
Facilities
A lack of facilities is the only thing that doesn’t catapult the Park Regis City Centre into a higher price bracket. However, this works well because it still boasts all the important stuff, like free WiFi and a rooftop pool. Everything else that it’s missing, like gyms and restaurants, can be found within walking distance of the hotel.
Food and drink
There is no onsite restaurant or room service but you don’t really notice. Why? Well, given it’s location in the city, there are cafes and restaurants within close walking distance. Also, because we live in a world that includes menu log and door dash, room service isn’t the perk it once was.
In the neighbourhood
Park Regis City Centre is only one block from the lovely Hyde Park and a two-minute walk to the QVB and Pitt Street Mall. Town Hall train station is also only a two-minutes walk away, providing access to all of the cityโs attractions.
Walking distance from popular attractions:

The verdict on the Park Regis City Centre in Sydney
Having spent four nights at the Park Regis Hotel for a family break in Sydney, I can confidently say that this is a fantastic mid-range hotel for families. In a city that’s known for costing a fortune for accommodation, the Park Regis Hotel will ensure you still have some dollars left for the fun stuff without sacrificing comfort and cleanliness.
The rooftop pool and free WiFi is a winner with the kids and the proximity to public transport makes getting around to all the Sydney attractions super affordable and easy. We would definitely stay here again.
