New Caledonia Holidays

New Caledonia Holidays

New Caledonia holidays are seriously under-rated! Australians get so caught up in Fiji they often overlook the other nearby island destinations which are incredibly stunning…..and dare I say it, more affordable.

A New Caledonia holiday features amazing French/Melanesian food whilst watching the sun set over the lovely Anse Veta beach, just 2.5 hours flying time from Brisbane.

With a modern city on the mainland, and stunning islands to explore, why not give New Caledonia a try?

Information and Inspiration for Your New Caledonia Holidays

It’s easy to both relax and be active enough to occupy the kids here.  We quickly settled into a fantastic routine of exploring our surrounds in the morning, and heading back to our accommodation in the afternoon to rest and watch the sun go down over the largest lagoon in the world.

If adventure is more your thing, spend the day trekking, snorkelling, biking, horse riding, diving, and even sky diving.

If you like to explore new cultures, you will be intrigued by the ancient culture and the unique French/Melanesian fusion that is present all around. This fusion is particularly enjoyable on your plate!

One of the reasons New Caledonia holidays with kids are so easy, is that the ocean is everywhere.  We all know that beach holidays with kids are the easiest to manage.

This lagoon is the largest in the world and has been a World Heritage Site since 2008!

What to Expect in New Caledonia With Kids

Most strangers are friendly here and not bothered by toddler antics.  The walking paths and roads are suitable for strollers in the city of Noumea, which makes getting around just that little bit easier.

I found using a baby carrier here more useful though as there are lots of opportunities to spend time at the beach.  I used the Ergo Baby Carrier for this trip.  However, the Piggy Back Carrier is a great option here also.

If you get a chance, you absolutely have to visit the Isle of Pines!  It’s a white sand, turquoise water paradise that dreams are made of.

Great Places to Visit on Your New Caledonia Holidays

The Isle of Pines was breathtakingly beautiful and unfortunately, we did not have time to stay long enough here. We loved the friendly service and location at the Oure Tera Beach Resort.  Make sure you check out the natural swimming pool.  It’s a real highlight of a trip to the Isle of Pines!

Although I am not a huge fan of cities, I found Noumea quite pleasant with excellent food options.  The markets were a highlight for me and I loved that it’s not an overcrowded city.  We enjoyed the Le Méridien Nouméa Resort & Spa for it’s out of town location, spectacular sunset views, and the lovely service and food we received.

…For Next Time

Unfortunately, time was not on our side for our New Caledonia Holidays!  Next time, we will definitely explore the islands and lagoon more as well as learning more about the ancient culture.

Stay Tuned!

Accommodation

On the Isle of Pines, we loved the Oure Tera Beach Resort.  It was just in a beautiful location with great service.

In Noumea, we loved the Le Méridien Nouméa Resort & Spa. It’s a little out of town but that’s why we loved it. The beach out front was perfectly uncrowded.
