Check Out These Rare Emo Nemos at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium
Wandering what on earth an Emo Nemo is? Keep reading! ….
Everyone knows and loves Clownfish, right? If you don’t know what a Clownfish is, it’s Nemo in Disney’s Finding Nemo! Hence why so many kids shout excitedly, ”Look there’s Nemo!” when spotting them at the aquarium.
Some spooky but adorable rare ”Emo Nemos” have arrived at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium just in time for Halloween!
The new arrivals are a different type of Clownfish, Ocellaris Clownfish to be specific. They are a unique black and white species found only on the reefs of the NT in Australia. Their special colour morph is why they are affectionately known as ”Emo Nemos”.
50 baby Emo Nemos! ….
SEA LIFE’s Darling Harbour aquarium welcomed 50 baby Emo Nemos to its Jurassic Seas last week and have been surprising guests with their unique colouring.
Their colour isn’t their only unique feature though! These Clownfish have the extraordinary ability to naturally change sexes from male to female when the dominant female dies. But once they change, they can’t go back!
The new Clownfish are currently only around 5cm long but will eventually grow up to 11cm and will play an important role in educating visitors on the issues faced in their natural environment.
Stop by the aquarium and see the spooky new additions along with 13,000 other underwater creatures in person this Halloween, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for five pumpkins hidden throughout the attraction!
Opportunities to meet some of the aquarium’s hair-raising creatures will also be available via Facebook and Instagram every day from Monday 26 October to Saturday 31 October.
