Review: Ninh Binh Legend Hotel
The Ninh Binh Legend Hotel is an upmarket french-colonial style hotel around 5 kilometres from the Ninh Binh train station in Vietnam. The city of Ninh Binh is nothing to write home about, but it is a convenient base to explore the beautiful surroundings and attractions. And boy are they amazing.
The rooms at the Ninh Binh Legend Hotel
We stayed in a deluxe double room and for a hotel room, it was pretty large. The en-suite was particularly upmarket, with a separate bathroom and toilet as well as an additional powder room.
The bed was king size but it was definitely bigger than a standard Australian king sized bed. So I suspect they may have pushed two doubles or two king singles together. An extra bed or cot was on offer for the kids but we declined as they wanted to share our bed.
For those with older kids, there are suitable family rooms available.
The staff
The staff spoke excellent English and were able to organise a private driver/tour for us to see the area. The customer service was fantastic and we couldn’t fault it. Like most places in Vietnam, the kids were treated extremely well and were welcomed everywhere.
The restaurants
There are two restaurants and a bar at the Ninh Binh Legend Hotel. We ate most of our meals in the Legend restaurant, which was of an extremely high standard. We were able to order both Western and Vietnamese meals here.
I did feel a little uncomfortable taking young kids to such a nice restaurant but nobody made us feel like we shouldn’t be there, including the other guests. The waitresses (some who had kids of similar ages) were particularly interested in what kinds of foods our young children ate, particularly our 11 month old.
Other facilities at the Ninh Binh Legend Hotel
The Legend Hotel Ninh Binh has a health and fitness centre, three pools, pushbike rental, massage, sauna and souvenir shop.
Would I recommend the Ninh Binh Legend Hotel to other families?
Yes, I would. I can’t fault this hotel and the oversize rooms are a huge bonus when travelling with young kids. It was nice to have staff welcome the kids with open arms, often squatting down to their level to talk to them.

Accommodation
We have stayed at and loved the following hotels and resorts in Vietnam:
- HOI AN – The Hoi An Beach Resort
- NINH BINH – The Legend Hotel
- PHU QUOC Island – Long Beach Resort
- HO CHI MINH CITY – The Grand Hotel Saigon
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the hotel we stayed at in Hanoi as it was less than ideal!
