Only one hour from Brisbane or 90 minutes from the Gold Coast, Tallavalley Farm B&B is the ultimate weekend getaway from Brisbane to avoid crowds and enjoy wide-open spaces.
Set on 47 acres, Tallavalley Farm B&B is a modern cottage packed full of features. More importantly, you can even bring your furry friends … both dog and horse varieties!
I felt the tension drain from my shoulders as we drove up the driveway. A property surrounded by rolling hills, green grassy paddocks, pretty flowers and friendly animals will do that.
”Mum look …. cows!” yelled the kids
”Horses!” they yelled even louder. Trillian wouldn’t accept that the dark brown horse in the paddock was not her nanna’s horse, Bonza, who looks similar. I quickly changed the subject by pointing out the goats in a pen near the house. Arguing with a five-year-old is exhausting.
Owners, Joanna and David, live off-site and have done a beautiful job on the gardens. There is a vegetable garden out the back for guests and flowers surrounding the house. A decorative wrought-iron gate leads into the front garden.
We walked up the steps onto the front porch which had magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. A chalkboard on the wooden table read, ”Welcome Jessica and Co.”
It was from here that I spotted the large firepit in the front yard as I took in the views. ”Oh my god, this is amazing!” I whispered to myself, instantly regretting that we weren’t staying a whole week because …. well … I could most definitely get used to this!
Everything You Need For a Comfortable Getaway From Brisbane …
The cottage has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, full-sized laundry and kitchen, air conditioning and even a fireplace in the living room. Everything you need for a comfortable getaway from Brisbane! The highlight for me was the divine view from the porch at sunset and sunrise.
Dave had mentioned earlier he would bring his horse up to let the kids have a ride. Waiting outside, we watched the antics of Melvin and Maude, the two goats. One was feeling a little ”frisky” and the other clearly wasn’t in the mood for any shenanigans. She preferred to just head butt her mate in what appeared to be annoyance every time he busted out a move.
Dave arrived with his horse and led the kids around the paddock as the sun began to set. The kids absolutely loved it and also loved visiting the chooks to search for eggs.
Although you could easily just hang out at the cottage all day playing board games, watching movies, daydreaming on the porch, walking the property or talking to the cows, there is also lots to do within 30 minutes drive of Tallavalley Farm.

Hang Out With More Adorable Farm Animals at Haigslea Ewe Nique Hobby Farm
Located only 15 minutes from Tallavalley Farm, Dave and Penny operate the wonderful hobby farm, Ewe Nique Hobby Farm. Kids and adults can feed and pet adorable alpacas, lambs, sheep, goats, chicken and geese.
In addition to grabbing yourself a cuppa and morning tea on the way in, make sure to grab a mini bucket or three of carrots and grain for the farm animals. After a quick briefing by Farmer Dave, you will be let loose to feed and pet the animals.
As we stood making ”Awwwwww” sounds at adorable baby lambs, Penny came over and told us they had only been born a few hours earlier. I made a silent vow to never eat lamb again.
To ensure that every visitor can practice social distancing and have a great time, numbers are limited per session. Booking are essential!
Have a Picnic in a Bell Tent at Soul Nook Collective
Only 7 minutes down the road on The Old Church Grounds in Marburg, pay a visit to The Soul Nook Collective. It’s here that you can experience a memorable private picnic in a boho styled Bell Tent.
Picnics are available Wednesdays to Saturdays and can be as simple as a picnic rug set up under the trees to the full Bell Tent experience. There is a package to suit every budget!
The Old Church itself now houses Soul Nook Collective’s boutique gift shop and cafe. Make sure to check out their website for any upcoming artisan workshops for both adults and kids.

Tour Summerland Camels and Try Out Beauty Products Made From Camel Milk
I was not a camel fan when I arrived but I most certainly was when I left!
Book the Camel Farm Experience Tour at Summerland Camel Farm, only 30 minutes from Tallavalley Farm B&B, and learn all about their ”smart tech farming” operations and why camel milk is the ultimate ingredient for skincare. You will also get the opportunity to try camel milk, fetta cheese and other products.
Before you leave, make sure to let the kids enjoy a camel ride and you absolutely must visit the onsite cafe and retail store. Try out the camel milk cheeses, gelatos, chocolates, cakes and their famous ‘’camelccino’’.
Stroll Around Kholo Gardens and Spread Out Your Picnic Rug Beside The Lily-Pond
Only 25 minutes from Tallavalley Farm B&B, Kholo Gardens is a pretty place to let the kids loose.
There are gardens, defined walkways, an established lily pond, bushwalking tracks, wide-open spaces and beautiful giant Kauri trees and Hoop Pines. Walk the short walking tracks and spread out your picnic rug for a relax beside the lily-pond.
Meet the Llamas and Other Farm Animals at The Llama Farm
The 80-acre llama Farm is located only 30 minutes from your getaway from Brisbane farmstay at Tallavalley Farm B&B. The Llama farm is Queensland’s largest herd of Llamas and an experience like no other.
Shane from the llama farm offers two difference experiences in either a farm visit or a guided llama walk, in which you get to choose a llama to walk on a lead along a purpose-built trail on the farm.
You can also expect to interact with adorable miniature ponies, stunning peacocks, cute donkeys, sheep, maremmas and even a flemish giant rabbit.

Sip Coffee and Wander Through Antique Stores in Marburg
Scotland Yard Antiques and The Black Museum are also located in Marburg, two of the most wonderful antique stores I’ve ever visited. The kids loved the collection of old phones, although had no clue what they were at first!
The Special Branch Collective is where you go between browsing antiques, a retail space that sells garden decor, plants, coffee and treats. All three stores are owned by different members of the same family!
Taste Test Locally Grown Olives and Limes
Bernard and Lorraine Mahon’s olive grove and lime orchard is only 25 minutes from Tallavalley Farm B&B. They’ve been farming olives on their beautiful property, Watercress Creek Olive and Limes, since 1998 and are fourth generation farmers in Pine Mountain.
Tour the olive grove and lime orchard before heading back to the small shop to taste test the products. Kids can burn off energy by racing through the lime orchard rows in the Queensland sunshine!
