The Best Gold Coast Putt Putt – Guaranteed Family Fun

The cheating was outrageous, the sibling rivalry was fierce and the laughs were loud at the best Gold Coast putt putt course around … King Tutt’s Putt Putt!

I just love putt putt golf for families. It’s one of those great activities that both really young and much older kids can enjoy as well as parents. Basically, it can be enjoyed by the whole family.

King Tutts Putt Putt in Surfers Paradise is one of the best Gold Coast putt putt courses around! This mini-golf centre features three 18-hole themed courses, two of which are indoors.

This first time we visited, we tried out the Ancient Egyptian themed course. We all loved this one as it features glow in the dark caves using special glow in the dark balls!

The second time we visited we had just finished up a fantastic two night/three day stay at Paradise Resort Gold Coast and were wasting time before checking into SeaWorld Resort.

This time we completed Jurassic Putt at King Tutt’s Putt Putt, an 18 hole course with a dinosaur theme and a dose of King Kong thrown in for good measure. This course has some great photo opps and we enjoyed it just as much as the Ancient Egyptian course.

I find it really hard to decide which is the best themed Gold Coast putt putt between these two! But if I had to choose one, I would lean slightly more towards the Anicent Egyptian course due to the neon coloured caves. Also, my five-year-old was a little scared of the dinosaurs and King Kong!

The third course is an outdoor course called Tutt’s Challenge and we hope to try this one next. The staff tell me its the most challenging of the three courses with a few surprises along the way.

Gold Coast family holiday resources

Best time to visit the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is really an all-year-round holiday destination. However, it gets pretty busy during the summer school holidays.

December to February sees tropical weather with more chance of rain. Many tout April and May as a great time to visit due to lower rainfall, but I personally find the ocean a bit too chilly at this time.

Where to stay

If staying in Burleigh Heads, Swell Resort is a fantastic option for families with roomy apartment-style offerings. The resort is set close to restaurants, only 100 metres from the beach. This is my top pick for the Gold Coast.

If staying in the Gold Coast Hinterlands, you can’t go past Binna Burra Lodge or O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat. Both offer a range of accommodations.

If you’re looking for a family resort with everything to occupy the kids, NRMA Treasure Island and Paradise Resort are top choices.

Those seeking luxury will love the Gold Coast Marriott or The Star.

Getting to the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is located one hour south of Brisbane on the East Coast of Australia.

Both domestic and international flights service the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. Find a great deal on Trip.com

The Gold Coast is connected by rail to Brisbane’s Roma Street and Central stations. There is also an AirTrain that runs a regular rail service taking around 90 minutes.

Getting around the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast has an extensive bus service with over 60 routes within the city. If venturing to the Gold Coast Hinterlands, hiring a car is an excellent option if you don’t have your own.
