Intrepid Travel has launched a brand-new Premium Family range, expanding its family travel offering with eight new small-group adventures designed for families wanting immersive experiences without the stress of planning everything themselves.
The new tours span destinations including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Morocco, Egypt, Costa Rica and Borneo, with departures beginning from December 2026.
Intrepid expands its family travel offering
The launch comes as demand for easier, experience-led family travel continues to grow. According to a recent Intrepid survey of more than 2,600 parents across Australia, the USA, Canada and the UK, 80 per cent of parents want their children to experience new cultures and destinations, while 70 per cent value holidays where the logistics and planning are handled for them.
The new Premium Family range combines the company’s more comfortable Premium travel style with its long-running Family collection, which already includes more than 50 itineraries worldwide.
What makes the new premium family range different?
Unlike traditional large-group coach holidays, the trips are designed for small groups of three to five families travelling together and are led by Intrepid’s experienced local guides.
Highlights include Morocco, Borneo and Egypt
Highlights across the new range include spending a night in a Sahara Desert camp in Morocco complete with traditional Gnaoua music and stargazing, wildlife spotting in India’s Jhalana Leopard Safari Park, and staying in an overwater villa in Borneo while taking part in coral planting workshops and marine activities.
Families travelling to Sri Lanka can explore the Dambulla Cave Temples, spot elephants on safari and experience local village life in Heeloya, while the Vietnam itinerary combines Halong Bay cruising, cave exploration and scenic train journeys through central Vietnam.
Thailand’s new 11-day Premium Family Holiday includes tuk tuk rides through Bangkok, cycling near ancient ruins in Sukhothai, elephant encounters in Chiang Mai and a beach escape on Koh Samui.
Meanwhile, the Egypt Premium Family Holiday includes visits to the Pyramids, Sphinx and ancient temples, along with a three-night luxury Nile cruise that Intrepid says is often a highlight for younger travellers.
Intrepid says families want more meaningful travel

Intrepid now offers 58 family tours across six continents and 30 countries, with travel styles ranging from Basix and Original through to Comfort and the new Premium category.
