It’s all about the Mundi Undi Run
Staged to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), the Mundi Undi Run is a one-kilometre family-friendly fun fun through the Mundi Mundi Bash. This event sees festival-goers dress up or down in a wild array of whacky outfits. The Mundi Undi Run guarantees a laundry load of laughs and if running isn’t for you, don’t worry, many of the participants take it at a walking pace.
It’s all about fun for all ages (and dogs)
Families are well catered for at the Mundi Mundi Bash. There’s a huge open area near the concert arena for kids to play as well as plenty of activities for them, such as dunny door painting, a treasure hunt, a talent show, camel rides, a petting zoo and more. It’s so family-friendly you’ll even find kids with their parents in the moshpit right in front of the stage.
Dogs are also welcome at the Mundi Mundi Bash. There’s a special section for those camping with dogs and also a section for those wanting to watch the bands with their dogs. Make sure to tell your dog to dress to impress, as there’s even a Doggy Fashion Parade.
It’s all about the camping
You’ll need to bring your own caravan, camper trailer, motorhome or tent as there is no-onsite accommodation at the Mundi Mundi Bash. There is also no power, showers, or water hook-up, so you’ll need to be a fairly self-sufficient camper.
However, plenty of compost toilets are scattered around the Mundi Mundi Bash. Don’t worry, though. These smell nothing like the old-fashioned festival port-a-loos of the past.
Unless you’ve brought along a Starlink dish, you will have no phone or internet service. You can purchase some connection time at the festival however, the purchase line is pretty long. Alternatively, you can do it ‘the old-fashioned way’ by making use of the Mundi Mundi Bash message board, where you leave a handwritten note for your friends telling them you’ve arrived and where to meet.
It’s all about the sunsets
The sunset is epic. It sets behind the stage and with the wind turbines in the distance, it’s a pretty memorable scene from your campchair in the concert arena.
It’s all about breaking world records
2023 saw the Mundi Mundi Bash in NSW wrestle back the world record for the most people doing the Nutbush dance at the same time from the Big Red Bash in QLD. 2024 saw a new Guinness world record attempt at the Mundi Mundi Bash for the largest human image of Australia. Festival-goers dressed in blue and, once again, tried to wrestle the record back from the Big Red Bash in QLD.
It’s all about trying new things
From the compost toilets that, surprisingly, don’t smell to the variety of food trucks to learning the Nutbush through to running a race in your undies, the Mundi Mundi Bash provides plenty of opportunities to try new things.
It’s all about raising money for a good cause
Given that the Royal Flying Doctors Service receives one-third of its funding from donations, the money raised by the Outback Music Festival Group (OMFG) at the Mundi Mundi Bash by attendees is critical to allow them to continue providing the finest care to the furthest corner.
Greg Sam, CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section, said after the 2023 Mundi Mundi Bash, “…It is also a great fundraising boost for the RFDS when it comes to delivering critical healthcare in the bush. On behalf of rural communities, I would like to thank everyone for their effort.”

What are the dates for the Mundi Mundi Bash 2025?
The Mundi Mundi Bash will run from 21 – 23 August, 2025. However, you can opt to arrive on site and set up camp a few days earlier, depending on which Vehicle Entry Pass you choose when you buy your tickets.

Where is the Mundi Mundi Bash?
The festival is set on the same Mundi Mundi Plains that Midnight Oil filmed their iconic ”Beds are Burning” film clip. It’s around 13 kilometres further on from Silverton and around 40 kilometres from Broken Hill in NSW.
What about camping at the festival?

As the final notes fade into the vastness of the outback, and the sun sets behind the Mundi Mundi Plains, the echoes of the Mundi Mundi Bash linger in the hearts and memories of those who have experienced its magic. If you’ve been on the fence about attending this festival, I get it, it’s a significant investment for most families. However, speaking from experience, the Mundi Mundi Bash is worth both the expense and the effort to get there.
