Our Family Stay at Park Regis City Centre Sydney: Honest Review + FAQs

As a family, you can’t go past a good mid-range hotel. You know, the kind that’s a big step up from budget but doesn’t come with a luxury price tag. The Park Regis City Centre fits this brief perfectly – and yes, it even has a rooftop pool! We recently stayed for four nights at the Park Regis City Centre to review how it stacks up for a family break in Sydney. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re considering it.

First impressions

Walking into the lobby, our first reaction was relief. Clean, modern, uncluttered, and with quirky old-school trunk-style luggage décor, the Park Regis made a great first impression. The staff were friendly and check-in was quick.

Our Park Suite surprised us too: spotless, with a semi-private kids’ area separated by the bathroom and kitchenette nook. After a long day travelling, the complimentary snack box was a thoughtful touch that absolutely won us over.

The rooms at Park Regis City Centre

We stayed in a Park Suite, which included two semi-separated areas (no closing door) with a small hallway to the bathroom and kitchenette (fridge + microwave).

Main bedroom:

  • King-sized bed
  • TV and air-con

Second room:

  • Two single beds (no sofa bed as shown in website photos)
  • Work desk + second TV

A large reflective wall panel gives a nice sense of space, and at 34 sqm, the room felt surprisingly roomy for a CBD hotel.

Facilities

A lack of facilities is the only thing that doesn’t catapult the Park Regis City Centre into a higher price bracket. However, this works well because it still boasts all the important stuff, like free WiFi and a rooftop pool. Everything else that it’s missing, like gyms and restaurants, can be found within walking distance of the hotel.

The Park Regis City Centre keeps it simple:

  • Rooftop pool with stunning city views (big win with the kids)
  • Free WiFi

No gym or restaurant on site, but everything you need is within easy walking distance. When you’re travelling with kids, unless they are old enough to stay in the hotel room by themselves, it’s virtually impossible to use an onsite gym anyway. So I actually really appreciate that I’m not paying extra for these few additional things (that I probably wouldn’t use anyway) that would bump the cost of the hotel room up into luxury pricing.

Food and drink

There’s no onsite restaurant or room service. But honestly, in this part of Sydney, you won’t miss it. Cafes, takeaways, and restaurants are on your doorstep. Plus, apps like UberEats, Menulog and DoorDash make delivery a breeze.

In the neighbourhood (walking distance)

You couldn’t ask for a better location:

  • Town Hall Station: 160m
  • Museum Station: 280m
  • Hyde Park: 280m
  • Australian Museum: 400m
  • Sydney Tower Eye: 450m
  • Darling Harbour: 650m
  • Chinese Friendship Garden: 1km
  • Sydney Aquarium: 1.1km
  • Royal Botanic Gardens: 1.6km
  • Sydney Opera House: 2km
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge: 2km
  • Taronga Zoo: 6.1km (via ferry)

We easily walked to most attractions – even with two young kids in tow!

Accessibility

The hotel offers lift access and states disabled facilities are available. However, because we weren’t travelling with anyone with accessibility needs, I can’t vouch for how accurate this is. I’d recommend contacting them directly for details tailored to your needs.

What could be better

Although they are not apartments, so I can’t really complain, a slightly larger kitchenette area would have been much appreciated, given that there is no onsite restaurant.
