Vanuatu Family Holiday

The Island of Espiritu Santo

You won’t find brand name resorts on the Vanuatu Island of Espiritu Santo.  However, you will find stunning beaches fringed with coconut trees, fresh locally grown produce, fantastic snorkelling and friendly people. It’s the perfect island to choose for your Vanuatu Family Holiday!

The Island of Espiritu Santo is a breath of fresh air and one of the most enjoyable and easy places I have ever travelled with kids.  Vanuatu is ideal for travellers of all ages and is an amazing destination to unplug, unwind and reconnect with your family.

Information and Inspiration for Your Vanuatu Family Holiday

Great Places to Visit on Your Vanuatu Family Holiday

These places can be found on the Island of Espiritu Santo. We are hoping to get back over to Vanuatu to visit some of the other islands soon. Stay tuned!

Lonnoc Beach

Staying in a simple bungalow on the waters edge at Lonnoc Beach Bungalows was a real highlight of our time in Espiritu Santo.  The bungalows are only 30 metres from the beautiful shoreline of Lonnoc Beach.  This means you can get around barefoot and in bathers for your whole holiday!

This particular beach is great for younger kids as its sheltered, making the waters quite calm.  It’s perfect for snorkelling, relaxing and non-confident swimmers!

You don’t need to stay at the bungalows to enjoy Lonnoc Beach. You can always just visit the beach and stay for lunch!

Port Olry

Just 10 minutes down the road from Lonnoc Beach is Port Olry.  This beach is pure tropical island bliss and I’m so very glad to see that the locals haven’t given in and allowed any brand name resorts to ruin it’s pristine perfection.

Who needs luxury when you have a deserted tropical beach with fantastic snorkelling just off shore all to yourself?

Make sure you stop in for a meal and a relax in the hammock at Chez Louis Restaurant/Cafe in Port Olry

The Blue Holes

The Blue Holes on the Island of Epsiritu Santo have to be seen to be believed. There are three open to the public and they are basically freshwater springs with really unique blue coloured water.

I enjoyed Riri Blue Hole the most due to the jungle surrounds and rope swing.  Nanda Blue Hole is by far the most beautiful!  It has more infrastructure such as a boardwalk and cafe, and is also the deepest and clearest.

Freshwater Plantation

Freshwater Plantation is an organic plantation on the neighboring island of Aore.  Tours are offered around the facility and there is a lovely upmarket restaurant on site.  A walk around the lush plantations will see you discovering a variety of produce that is grown on site and used in the restaurant, organic cocoa harvesting and a bat cave complete with suspension bridge.

The coastline fronting the plantation is pretty decent as well! Read more about my experience of eating organic chocolate bliss balls and touring the plantation here.

Santo Horse Adventures

Santo Horse Adventures is an amazing horse rescue facility that offers a very unique horse riding trek through jungle, ocean and a crystal clear creek surrounded by a mangrove tunnel.  I have never experienced anything like it before!

The horse ride is suitable for both experienced and beginner riders and will be one of the most memorable things you do on your Vanuatu family holiday.

Wading through a clear, freshwater creek under the shade of a mangrove tunnel. This is a really unique experience!

Vanuatu Family Holiday on a Budget

We were on limited funds for this holiday and due to the simple accommodation available and flying in shoulder season, a budget was fairly easy to stick to. Check out my blog posts on how to manage Vanuatu on a budget with kids.

Don’t worry, if simple isn’t your style there are more accommodation options available closer to the main town of Luganville.
