Spend An Amazing Morning At Summer Land Camels – Try Out Their Surprisingly Beautiful Skin Products

Not a camel fan? Neither was I before we visited Summer Land Camels. But before we left both myself and the kids had done a complete u-turn, falling in love with their gentle nature and long eye-lashes.

Did you know that most people who are lactose intolerant can tolerate camel’s milk? Or that beautiful skin products can be made from it? Or that fetta cheese made from camel’s milk is actually really tasty? We didn’t either, but we do now!

We visited the Summer Land Camel Farm to experience one of their great farm tours. I was fascinated by their ”smart tech farming” operations and enjoyed spotting gorgeous baby camels. Learning why camel milk is the ultimate ingredient for skincare was fascinating.

Sooo gentle and cute at Summer Land Camel farm!

We even tried out some of Summer Land Camel’s anti-aging skin care products and camel milk fetta cheese for free!

Located within the beautiful Scenic Rim of South East Queensland, Summer Land Camel Farm is just a 45-minute drive from Brisbane’s CBD, 25 minutes from Ipswich’s CBD and 80 minutes from the Gold Coast.

It’s hard not to fall in love with Summer Land Camels before you even meet the camels. The property is picturesque, with gorgeous views of mist-covered mountains off in the distance as one drives up the long driveway towards the decorative gates.

Arrive early to feed and pet the camels …

Arriving 20 minutes early to feed and pet the camels, we grabbed a couple of paper bags filled with feed from a two-dollar honesty box and made a beeline towards the adult camels with young ones underfoot.

The $2 feed bags

The friendly camels reach their heads over the top of the fence and gently take the feed from your hand.  Young camels who aren’t yet tall enough to reach over the top make do by sticking their furry heads with long eyelashes through the large space in the railings.

The tour itself is pretty interesting and I can honestly say the kids weren’t even bored. We learned that Summer Land Camels is a chemical and GMO free farm, saw how and where the camels are milked and met many of the camels on a walk around. My favourite was the baby camel only a few days old! We also saw the ”lab” where the wonderful products are created and learned about the health benefits of camel milk.

At the end, we got to try to some unique products including a moisturizer, fetta cheese and camel milk.

Both kids tried the fresh camel milk although only one of them loved it. Trillian asked if she could eat both mine and Ripley’s fetta cheese she enjoyed it so much.
