If you’re looking for a villa in Koh Samui, Thailand that’s peaceful, family-friendly, and right on the beach, Villa La Baron ticks all the boxes. Located near Big Buddha Beach, this charming beachfront property offers relaxed island vibes with a touch of luxury. My family and I stayed in the Two-Bedroom Royal Family Villa, and from the moment we walked through the tropical garden to our private villa, we knew this was going to be one of those places we’d talk about for years.
Location
You couldn’t ask for a better location for exploring Koh Samui’s northern coast. Villa La Baron sits on Bangrak Beach, just a few minutes’ drive from Fisherman’s Village (a favourite for the night markets and street food) and just over five kilometres from Koh Samui Airport – making it ideal for families who want convenience without the chaos.
The Big Buddha Temple is close enough for a morning stroll, and the Bangrak Pier (for day trips to Koh Phangan) is only 10 minutes away. Despite the proximity to all these attractions, the villa feels peaceful and private.
I loved that when you walked out the back entrance, you would find yourself in the exciting chaos of a Thai street with plenty of restaurants within walking distance, as well as a massage place and a supermarket. When you stepped out the front of the property, you find yourself on a quiet beach, perfect for strolling, swimming or simply relaxing in the deck chairs. You get the best of both worlds at this villa in Koh Samui!
Accommodation features of Villa La Baron in Koh Samui
Our Two-Bedroom Royal Family Villa felt more like a classy home surrounded by nice gardens than a hotel. With a king bed and a queen bed, a spacious living area, and a fully equipped kitchenette, it’s perfect for families who like extra space and the option to self-cater. The private terrace features a lush garden with plenty of privacy from neighbouring villas and being just steps from the sand, it’s ideal for families.
Safety-wise, the property is gated from the road, with ground-floor accommodation (no stairs to worry about).
On-site activities and entertainment
The communal beachfront pool is the heart of Villa La Baron in Koh Samui – sparkling, scenic, and never crowded. There’s direct access to the beach, where the kids loved collecting shells and spotting small fish in the shallows. For families who like relaxed mornings, there are plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas to unwind. The villa also provides books and board games, although the kids preferred to take advantage of the free WiFi when it came time to relax in the villa.
Dining options
While Villa La Baron doesn’t have a restaurant on-site, the in-villa kitchenette is well-stocked with a fridge, microwave, toaster, and dining area – great for simple breakfasts or light dinners. It’s also better for your wallet if you don’t need to eat out for every meal!
For meals out, there are restaurants within walking distance of the villas. Otherwise, Fisherman’s Village is just a short drive away with its night market and street food.
Staff and service
The staff at Villa La Baron in Koh Samui were warm and welcoming to families, and we have absolutely nothing to complain about in this regard. The fact that they clean/service the villa properly on a daily basis is wonderful, especially given that some larger big-name resorts have chosen to reduce this practice after Covid.
Value for money
For a beachfront villa in Koh Samui, Villa La Baron offers incredible value. The nightly rate includes WiFi, access to the pool and what is genuinely a classy villa. Considering the spacious layout and quieter location, it represents good value for money. It’s particularly good value for families who prefer the independence of self-catering and the comfort of a private villa without resort crowds.

- Our villa didn’t have bunk beds or single beds for the kids – they shared a Queen
