Five Reasons to Choose Hawaii for Your Family Vacation
Thinking of taking a Hawaii family vacation? You’re thinking in the right direction!
Hawaii is an amazing destination with a lot to offer and there are plenty of ways to make a visit to Hawaii more affordable. Check out my tips for Hawaii on a budget.
1. The Weather (and the Best Reason for a Hawaii Family Vacation)
Whilst the island has a dry and wet season, temperature wise, it really doesn’t vary much compared to other parts of the world.
We visited in off-peak times and still found the weather suitable for swimming. This meant minimal packing and getting around in bathers and shorts all day.
This is my top reason for a Hawaii Family Vacation!
2. The Beaches
You are absolutely spoiled for choice with swimming on a Hawaii family vacation. There are lots of places that are suitable for swimming with kids. See my post on Best Swimming in Oahu with Kids.
3. The Landscape
The landscape is usually what makes a holiday special for me, and Oahu does not disappoint. From the beautiful lush green of the inner island, to the turquoise beaches on the coast. It’s impossible to take a terrible photograph here.
4. The Shopping
To be honest, I’m not really into shopping. However, I thoroughly enjoyed dedicating a day to it on our Hawaii family vacation! I particularly loved the Aloha Stadium swap meet and market place.
I even enjoyed window shopping at the boutique stores at Waikiki Beach. Whilst a bit too expensive for my wallet, there are lots of high end stores in Waikiki such as Chanel, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurents, and Hugo Boss.
5. The History
If you would like to incorporate some history into your Hawaii family vacation, Oahu is well known for its military history and involvement in World War II.
Make sure you visit the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbour, and take a ferry out over the harbour to view the sunken USS Arizona.
Oahu also has a royal residence in the Iolani Palace, which was home of King Kamehameha III and his descendants until the late 1800’s.
